Day 2/365 Use your favorite animal as inspiration.
No animals from the wild came to mind, so on to pets... and there's only one of those. He is wild enough. Ziggy Kitty. He is an orange tiger cat, & this Saturday is his first birthday!
For my project, I recently found a bag of old, old yarn with good intentions. There was a CRO(-shayed) orange, rust, off white double-thick disk, maybe for a seat cushion. Looked like our zany Ziggy!
[no connection to the 41 House, but to Grammy - she always giggled about kitty-cats. AND her home for about 30 years, until after she turned 90, had these colors in her kitchen including the carpet!]
I crocheted ears first & a small pink circle for a nose. The typical zig-zag above his eyes from his tiger ancestors, I envisioned as a Z + I . Under his nose & his mouth, was easily an upside down Y .
So this cro-kitty needed eyes of some sort, and was so close to having his name in crochet, just needed a G + G . I spent another hour to crochet two similar-looking Gs to position for eyes.
I planned to attach the Z I G G Y letters but I wanted the cro-kitty to be functional. The picture shows the placement for the letters, yarn ends holding them in place. Since Ziggy needs safe scratching zones, letters might have scratched off too easily. The cro-kitty's final mission? ... an Attack Cat Flat Mat.
Feel free to add more rhymes, anytime!
